Fish Ladder May Lead to Concrete Dam for Borough Clearfield Borough Council gave final permission to allow Stacy Bressler of the Curwensville Anglers Restocking Program to pursue grant funding for the R. Dudley Tonkin Rafsman Dam, but now, the borough could stand to win funds to construct not only a fish ladder but also a concrete dam. Bressler approached council at last week's work session to advise council on CARP's desire to look for grants to build the fish ladder.
"In the summer ... you'll see thousands of fish trying to make the journey," he said during the work session. If the ladder is constructed, those fish will have an easier time navigating the West Branch of the Susquehanna River.
Clearfield Borough Secretary Pam Peters informed council Thursday night that she spoke with officials at the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. They said the borough might be able to secure money to build a concrete dam in place of the wooden one there now. Peters gave the fish and boat commission Bressler's contact information.
